pies

Yesterday we made pies. I made an apple crumble and custard pie. 5 other people made pies too Ethan made a cheese burger pie,  Amber made a fruit pie, P.J. made bacon and egg with toast pie, mia made a pasta pie and Jed made a venison, mint with cheese pie. I tried all the pies they were so yummy today!!!

Patutahi hall rural school disco

On Friday we went to a rural school disco. The disco was in the Patutahi Hall in Ngatapa. At the disco there was face paints, popcorn, slushies, pizza there was also a DJ called DJ Ash. I went to the disco with Jed, Evie, Rosemary, Zoe and Rebecca. Me and Jed got the same face paint a picture of a fox, carlos got the same face paint but in orange. Me and Jed got 2 slushies, 2 pieces of pizza and one bag of popcorn Jed's first slushie was mixed and his second was raspberry my first slushie was mixed and then my last one was

My poster

Two weeks ago we started making posters for our pies. Our posters had to have and be colourful, spaced out, pictures & photos, important information, detail, a big title, that your text writing is clear, that its bold and bright, bullet points and numbering, and you have checked your spelling. My title says Hot pies a bit lower there is a picture of my pie to the my right is what it  includes it has mint, apple, sugar, custard, milk, rolled oats, brown sugar, and butter. A bit lower than my pie is what my pie is called it is called Apple crumble,custard and mint pie. A bit more down I have put some detail

testing herbs

Today we were testing herbs! We were tasting and and writing down what the flavour is and what the texture is. We dried first rosemary rosemary tasted like crunchy and try with no flavour,next was thyme thyme tasted like sour dry in salty, then there was garlic tasted like a bit spicy and smooth,then chives chives tasted like a little soft and salty, next was mustard seeds mustard seeds tasted like crunchy and peanutty,   then there was oregano oregano taste like fluffy and dry,then  parsley parsley tasted like , chilli flakes, mint, sage and basil. My 3 most favourite were chives for number 3rd, rosemary for  and garlic for 1st. My worst was oregano 

My diorama

In class we have been learning about diorama's during our kai immersion week. A diorama is where you create a tiny version of a place that you are interested in. We could decide if we wanted to make a diorama of Waiherere domain, Gisborne Fisheries or Kaiti beach. I chose to do mine on Waiherere domain. I wrote a report on kawa kawa to go with my diorama . My report had a title, description, location, conclusion and dynamics. I have found lots of kawa kawa at my house my mum has used it for medicine sometimes. I was proud of my work and thought it was fun to do.

our kai immersion week

Last week and this week we had a kai Immersion week. Are whole week was filled with food based days first on Monday some people  that taught us about are body and how the food travels down are body. I liked how they told us about the steps that the food takes. On Tuesday we made pancakes on hobo stoves.  we made them in our house colours i'm in yellow house so I was with Mrs Allan. I loved how we made the hobo stoves and making the pancakes on them. On Wednesday we went to cedenco a processing company. There were a couple places at cedenco my favourite room was the boardroom. Did you know that the word cedenco is made from two men, ced and den? On Thursday we learnt about seeds, we also went to the envirocenter to plant seeds. We also got to take some Broccoli, Rocket, and cabbage. I loved going to the envirocenter to water the vege's. The next week we continued on our kai adventure. On Monday we went to kaiti beach and Gisborne fisheries. I went to Gisborne fisheries first, They told us what they did with the crayfish and told us what types of fish there was. My favourite part was looking at the picture room. On Tuesday we went to waihirere domain, we met a man called sam the trap man. went in our house colours we also went with another group red house. First I went with Sam the trap man In the bush, he was showing us food we can eat in the bush we saw Kawa kawa, bush lettuce, and peku peku then we made bush tea that makes you relax, we made them on hobo stoves then we went for another walkbut this time we went to the waterfall. Last we went to a river that was freezing cold. My favourite part was when we went to the waterfall.
